Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) announced on Tuesday that it has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from South Central Railway for an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract. The scope of work includes electrification and signaling as part of the Parbhani-Parli doubling project in Maharashtra. The total value of the contract is approximately ₹625.08 crore, inclusive of GST. The project is expected to be completed within 30 months.
This project is a significant development for RVNL, which continues to expand its role in the infrastructure sector in India.
It follows a recent contract award for the railway PSU for a value of ₹ 837.67 crore from Eastern Railway for an infrastructure project involving earthwork, bridge construction, and railway track laying.
RVNL is said to be leading the project, which spans from IR Ch. 205.000 km to 260.2 km between Kalipahari (inclusive) and Pradhankhuta (exclusive) and is part of the construction of a multi-tracking railway BG line.
For the South Central Railway contract, RVNL clarified that there is no involvement of related parties in this contract, and the project will be executed by a domestic entity. The company did not disclose any interest from its promoters or group companies in the awarding entity.
Shares of RVNL finished 0.9% higher on Tuesday at ₹434.00. The stock has, however, recovered from its recent low of ₹408, which it had made on October 28.
