This is the <strong>third straight month of decline<\/strong> in the <strong>Wholesale Price Index (WPI)<\/strong>, signaling continued disinflationary momentum across the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The latest figures follow the <strong>Consumer Price Index (CPI)<\/strong> falling to a <strong>near six-year low of 2.82%<\/strong>, reflecting broad-based cooling, particularly in <strong>food inflation<\/strong>, which dipped <strong>below 1%<\/strong>\u2014a level not seen in nearly four years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Inflation Trends and RBI\u2019s Policy Response<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>WPI inflation stayed subdued for most of <strong>FY24<\/strong>, and although there was a slight rise early in <strong>FY25<\/strong>, it has remained <strong>well below 3%<\/strong> throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This consistent decline in both <strong>retail and wholesale inflation<\/strong> has opened the door for monetary easing. The <strong>Reserve Bank of India (RBI)<\/strong> has responded with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A <strong>50 basis points (bps) rate cut<\/strong> in early June<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>25 bps cuts<\/strong> in <strong>February and April<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>With these moves, the <strong>repo rate now stands at 5.5%<\/strong>, a full percentage point lower than at the start of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Outlook for 2025 and Beyond<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Economists suggest that further <strong>rate cuts may be on the table<\/strong> if the current disinflationary trend continues.
